I have spent quite some time thinking about my overall parenting goal after my interview with Supna a few weeks ago. What is the one thing I want for my children? Who would I like them to be? What would I like them to be known for? I must say it is such an easy question, with so many facets and branches. Not a very simple answer. It has to be though, I thought. Every time I ask myself if what I am doing is feeding the goal, surely I can’t spend 20 minutes dissecting the goal?

After listing some small goals, I came up with two words… 1) Empathetic, which means showing the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. 2) Leader, which for me this means being confident enough in yourself to step out, be different and take the lead. That is what I want for my children. Whew! It felt good to finally have that in place. Now, for the hard part – how?

Enter HICH South Africa. HICH is a clothing brand which was created from not only a love for animals, but a deep desire to make things better for them. The dynamic trio behind the brand put their minds together and have created some really cute phrases and hashtags to raise awareness around animal respect and protection. They have created a range of kiddie t-shirts, and just recently launched back-packs and a gym range for us moms too!

So what makes this team so different you may be wondering? It’s not JUST a clothing brand, a portion of every sale goes back into the heart of this brand. The animals.

Not only are you supporting a local small business, but you are contributing towards keeping animals fed. Paying vet bills for much needed medical attention. You are simply saying yes. Yes to giving to animals that can offer you nothing in return. Yes to going against the grain and doing something different.

So how am I reaching my parenting goal by buying and supporting a clothing brand? When Emilie got her first t-shirt, it meant so much more than just a t-shirt for her. Emilie has a long standing love for animals, and much like many children her age, wants to be a vet one day when she grows up. Explaining to her what HICH is all about, and what it means to be a HICH-er, has opened up so many conversations. Talks about what more we can be doing, suggestions about what at her age, in her capacity could SHE be doing to assist local shelters.

This girl has plans, talks of Saturday mornings spent at shelters volunteering, raising funds with raffles and selling her homemade goods to help the cause are just the tip of the iceberg. I couldn’t be prouder that she has been selected as a Brand Ambassador for HICH. I cannot wait to share what we do together with this brand, to raise awareness and assist those animals with love, time and energy.

HICH is not just a clothing brand. It is a changing of perceptions, one HICH-er at a time. It is a call for more than just shopping for a cute T-shirt. It’s a revolution. Join the revolution by following them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and subscribe to their shop here to stay on top of all their latest releases and specials.
