First tooth traditions

Cutting teeth is positively traumatic, and obviously the first tooth is the worst. I can definitely relate to why the first tooth is celebrated, we worked really hard to get there you know? And by that I mean that mom and dad suffered many a sleepless night.  As you could have guessed Daniel cut his very first tooth this weekend. We slept very little, and celebrated with pancakes. Fatherly instincts… Hmmmm, I know what you are thinking – are there such things? Do men really have instincts even? When it comes to the well being of our children? LOL just kidding. Choosing to be grateful

Today was a hard day, not because anything went outrageously wrong. I mean, we woke up a bit later. We were worried about Daniel so he went to the pediatrician. I am not 100% healthy not overly sick, but I have a nagging post nasal drip, that has got me like a dog with a bone. My family is sick. (more…)

Am I teaching my child to lie to me?

When Emilie has done something wrong, she gets punished. Breaking the rules are punishable offences. I’ve always been proud of the fact that she has a sense of discipline, she is obedient and there is respect between the two of us. Lately however, I’ve found that she isn’t as forth coming about her mistakes as I would like. Obviously in the moment it makes me angry, but isn’t this why she isn’t telling me things? Am I encouraging dishonesty with my reactions? How are you supposed to react when your child does the wrong thing? Where is the boundary? How do you instil boundaries without fear? (more…)
